Facial Hair as a Fashion Statement and The Bare Tree Giveaway!

by Bare Tree Apparel June 3, 2013

In a world where women have the ability change their look on a day to day basis with the addition of a necklace, the swap of some earrings and a wrist full of bangles, men, typically, aren’t so lucky. With the exception of those who can rock accessories and exude confidence that surely most women only dreamed of emanating, most men have very few options to work with. However, the blessing in disguise that offers the upper hand in male accessorizing is no other than the addition or man-scaping of facial hair.

Beards date all the way back to the caveman years and have remained to this day, a symbol of masculinity and power; the days of sharpening a knife and scraping away at stubble are long gone. From Five O’clock Shadows to Handlebars and the rugged Fu Manchu, all it takes is a split second for a man to completely change the way he looks. Beards are spectacular; that sucker will grow right back in the morning if the soul patch you tried out for the bars last night wasn’t doing the trick. And to all those clean shaven men out there, remember, the ladies love a little extra something to grab, and every man looks intelligent stroking a perfectly groomed patch of hair on his chin.

What guy doesn’t want to be that epic "guy with the Mario mustache" and what woman doesn’t want to know that guy? Ladies, all you need is an "I Like Your Beard" tank top, and those men will flock to you. Yes, the men will indeed flock but consider yourself warned, the man with his lunch declaring a new home in his beard should more than likely be left as the beard that got away.

Now you can win your own "I Like Your Beard" tank or "Moosetache" t-shirt from Bare Tree Apparel! Go over to the Remington Ready Facebook page to enter, or click HERE.

MANstyle Review: WetTech

by RemReadyMan April 8, 2013

Hey guys and gals-

Jr. here, Men’s Style and Grooming Expert, to talk about the NEW Remington WetTech Rotary Shaver and Sensitive Shave Gel. The great part about this shaver is it can be used in or out of the shower, versatility at its best. The electric blue shaver is very light and the soft grip casing makes it easier to handle when it’s wet. The best thing about shaving in the in shower is, I dunno… everything? It doesn’t eat into your morning routine, the mirror makes it 10x easier to get a close, even shave, and lastly, combining it with the shave gel makes your skin incredibly smooth. Not to mention not having to worry about the mess, always looks like my sink grew a beard of it’s own when I’m done. I don’t think I’ll ever shave again without the Sensitive Shave Gel. My skin is always so smooth after using it, and… it doesn’t stink. Well, it does have a scent, but it’s very light and fresh. I spend way too much money on cologne to smell like I just walked out of an axe commercial. The shaver comes with a charging stand, so when all said and done, just drop it in the stand so you’re all set for the next shave. If you (or your man) prefers a close, smooth shave… I highly recommend picking up this shaver and shave gel combo.

by RemReadyMan March 4, 2013

Hello lads-

Let’s face it; money is tight these days. Majority of Americans don’t have a lot of extra spending cash now, but Remington® seriously offers exceptional products at competitive prices… I actually think our prices are pretty amazing.

You have the tools to clean up nicely, now let MANstyle help you find your looks for less. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to realize that spending 300 bucks on a sweater when you can essentially get the same thing for $30, is moronic. I mean, come on… guys don’t even take the best care of their clothes… at least I don’t and I love clothes.  Why spend that much when it’s just going to get trashed? Save yourself a couple bennys, and indulge elsewhere, life is too short to be spending it on materialistic things.

And ladies... Keep this in mind for great gift ideas!

Holiday Gifts for Him

by Christian Zaguirre December 17, 2012

Struggling with ideas for what to get the man of the house for the holidays? Well, if it’s not on GearCulture it’s not worth having, so let us take away some of that end-of-year stress with some top tips for your festive shopping…

1. Topo Designs Duffel

Handmade in Colorado, the Topo Designs Duffel ($30) is a bag for just about every occasion and comes in a range of colors to suit all tastes and moods, including silver, black, orange and camo. Stitched from mega-tough 1000d Cordura, with a seat-belt strap, leather handles and duty metal hardware, it’ll stand just about any abuse and looks pretty damned cool slung over the shoulder too.

2. Nike+ SportWatch GPS

Few know athletics like than Nike and few know  satellite tracking like TomTom, combine the expertise of the two and what do you get? The Nike+ Sportwatch GPS ($170). Every step, twist and turn of your sessions will be collected and calibrated for the ultimate training experience. Water resistant and powered by a rechargeable lithium battery via USB, it’ll track your heart rate and calories burned, and you can even upload your data online and challenge others to beat your personal bests.

3. Remington FR-750

Featuring pivot and flex technology that allows it to seamlessly follow the contours or your neck, face and chin, the Remington FR-750 ($100) is so good, Santa might just be tempted to finally shave off that white fluff. It’s cordless, the rechargeable battery will last for up to ten days with an hour charge and the pop-up trimmer makes light work of neatening off sideburns and beards too.

4. Bang! Lamp

A very cool, very original idea that looks great too. The Bang! Lamp ($300) not only boasts an elegant, minimalistic pearl white design, but is controlled by a gun. Not a real gun of course, that’d be dangerous, but a remote control one. Of course, you could always not tell him about the gun and have all sorts of fun by surreptitiously killing the light at will and letting him fumble round for that “blown fuse” in the dark.

5. Worx Semi-Automatic Screw Driver

Home improvement made so easy, even girls will want to give it a try. The Worx Semi-Automatic Screw Driver ($50) boasts a pair of rapid reload cartridges, yes, machine-gun-like, and even a semi-automatic bit changer. Also, there’s a built-in LED light for those who like to do their screwing in the dark, and a 4V lithium battery that can hold its charge for a ridiculously impressive 18 months.

6. Sea Doo Dolphin Sea Scooter

It’s safe for all over the age of 8, but let’s face it, he’ll be having far too much fun with this to ever let the kids get anywhere near it. The Sea Doo Dolphin Sea Scooter ($185) is a lightweight water propulsion machine that can be used in pools, lakes or the sea. One and half hour charge and capable of plunging to a depth of 15.5 feet, it’ll do 2 mph, which may not sound fast, but it’s not bad in the wet and certainly a hell of a lot quicker than his breast-stroke.

7. Olympus Tough TG-1 iHS

Verging on indestructible, this is a camera of near super-hero capabilities, the ideal gift if your man fancies himself as an action photographer and/or is a bit of a klutz. Bursting with countless settings, all sorts of gadgetry and video-recording capabilities, the Olympus Tough TG-1 ($400) produces high-end images and is also waterproof, shockproof, crushproof, dustproof and freezeproof. They’re not lying either, we had all sorts of fun testing out those brags, though not sure the camera did.

8. Jawbone Big Jambox

With a sound that is as epic as its aesthetics, the Jawbone Big Jambox ($300) is the perfect festive gift for your music-loving man. With its incredible gadgetry, it will turn any phone or tablet into a blood pumping sound system and boasts a rechargeable battery that will last up to 15 hours, which should cover just every party wherever it may be. A built-in mic even allows for calls and Skype and its online capabilities means that the latest apps are only a click away.

9. Pinnacle Foosball Coffee Table

Possibly the most man-friendly piece of furniture ever made. The Pinnacle Foosball Coffee Table ($510) is a cool, quality piece built from solid hardwoods, with each individual player expertly hand carved and lovingly hand painted. Want to finally get him to start using those coasters? Then buy him one of these, trust us, he’ll love you for it.

10. ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A

Tough, but unimaginably slender with a gorgeous metal finish of precision etched concentric circles, the award-winning ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A ($1,200-$1,400) packs some serious hardware into a very, very compact space. One of the top notebooks out there from one of the top brands, it’s fueled by the 3rd generation Core i7 processor with Intel Turbo Boost up to 2.6GHz, has audio by Bang & Olufsen and features a 6GB Solid State Drive. Weighing in at less than three pounds, it’s the ultimate machine for the ultimate man on the go.

Prom Perfection

by Kelley Krueger March 26, 2012

Prom is near and the search for the perfect dress and updo begins! To help with the search, we’ve enlisted hair diva extraordinaire, Kelley Krueger, to show us how to create two great looks. Kelley is a hair stylist for the Bellezza Salon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and has worked with celebrity clients including Debra Messing, Daisy Fuentes, Kelly Osbourne, and Brook Shields.

Be a Braided Beauty

1. Start by parting your hair and tease the top of the back of your head.

2. Take a 1 inch thick section of hair and begin braiding. You can do a french braid OR if that is too difficult a regular braid works well.

3. Bobby pin the braid at a downward slant towards the back of your head. Make sure it is long enough that it would reach a ponytail.

4. Give yourself a ponytail. High or low. Both work. Be sure to apply spray shine and hairspray for a sleek finished look

5. Take the whole ponytail and wrap around your hair around its base. It's ok of hair falls out - remember you can always pin any loose ends.

6. Pin away! Be sure to use Bobbi Pins that match your hair color :)

Or Sleek and Sensual

1. First part your hair in desired area ...

2. Then take 1 inch thick sections of hair and wrap it around your curling wand. Typically curl in a backward motion away from the head.

3. Brush all curl out with a soft bristle brush.

4. Gather hair and spray. This look is ideal for shorter hair but looks beautiful with any length.

For each of the looks I used a mirror, elastic hair band, bobby pins (preferably ones that match your hair color), Remington TStudio Pearl Ceramic Styling Wand, and a soft bristle brush.

Happy styling :)

Back to Basics: Brushes

by Remington Ready March 5, 2012

Back to Basics

Sometimes everyone needs a 101 course on beauty basics, because let’s face it, bits of information slip through the cracks. So the main lesson today will be that, like makeup brushes, not all hair brushes are created equal.

1. Cushion Brush: Create smooth touchable hair or use with your blow dryer for a punch of volume. These brushes are best for detangling dry hair (remember – it is always best if wet hair is detangled with a wide toothed comb!)as it conforms to the shape of the scalp and its cushion helps absorb some of the shock that can damage delicate hair.

2. Paddle Brush: Similar to the cushion brush, this fella is a great detangler, especially for long hair. Because the brush head is so wide, it can penetrate thick hair and its bristles provide a gentle massage and spreads hair’s natural oils, leaving you with a smooth and shiny finish.

3. Vent Brush: This brush is a beginner’s bff. It’s basic and can help you dry your hair quickly if used with a blow dryer. The large holes, or vents, running through its back help hair circulate when blow drying.

4. Round Brush: Perfect for adding va-va-volume or for a DIY blow-out. The barrel is specially designed to allow air to pass through helping to accelerate your drying time, while its large size allows you to lift the roots, giving hair more body.

5. Grooming Brush: Last minute touch-ups are dominated by this little gem! The grooming brush is designed to add a shiny smooth finish to hair and rejuvenate any hairstyle throughout the day.

What brush do you use every day?

Our Curl Crush

by Remington Ready February 20, 2012

Curl Crush

Who isn't after those luscious curls seen on stars and in magazines all the time? While practice makes perfect with killer curls, one thing that helps is a curling wand! For those of you that aren't familiar with the tool, a curling wand is a clipless curling iron. One of the favorites among the Remington Team and our fans is the TStudio Pearl Ceramic Styling Wand. The beauty of this tool is that its cone design can create a variety of curls without the annoying clap mark that some curling irons leave, giving you with a more natural look. It also has crushed pearl infused barrel, leaving hair shinier and smoother. Trends and styles come and go, but smooth and silky hair is always in style!

Here's our secret to creating crush worthy beachy curls with the Pearl Styling Wand:

What you will need: protective spray/argan oil, duckbill clip, Remington TStudio Pearl Ceramic Styling Wand, light holding hairspray.

1. Apply protective spray or argan oil to the ends of your hair.

2. Part your hair from ear to ear and pin up the top portion of your hair with a duckbill clip. You will start curling at the bottom and work your way up. If you have very thick hair, you may want to portion off smaller sections.

3. Put the included heat protective glove on your free hand.

4. Point the tip of the wand towards the ground. Starting at the barrel's base and working towards the tip, wrap sections of hair away from your face. Tight curls = thinner sections, loose curls = thicker sections.

5. Once the bottom portion is done, make another part through hair from upper temple to upper temple, pin up the top portion with the duckbill clip and curl. Once the middle section is curled, unpin the top section of hair and curl*.

6. Once your hair has cooled, soften the curls by gently breaking them apart with your fingers. To finish - add hairspray!

*Insider tip: for va-va-volume, back comb the last section of your hair before curling it.
