Tips and Tricks For Organizing Your Closet

by Danielle Arsenault October 13, 2014

Hi there!  I'm Danielle from For the Love of Leopard, a personal style blog.  I'm honored to be guest blogging on Remington Ready today, and to bring you some of my favorite tips for keeping your closet organized, functional, and looking beautiful.

• Keep it organized.  No matter how big or small your closet is, it is important that every item has a home.  You will be more likely to put things away if you know where each item is supposed to live.  It takes some time upfront but makes life so much easier when you are looking for something specific.  I have separated my hanging clothes in the following sections, and then organize them by color:

◦ Tank tops
◦ Tee Shirts
◦ Long Sleeve Shirts
◦ Blazers
◦ Button Downs
◦ Skirts

• Everything should be visible! If you are unable to see something, you most likely are going to forget about it and not wear it.  Items that are in sight are more likely to be worn.

◦ Roll tank tops so you can easily see and grab what you need
◦ Hang tights and nylons on a hanger for easy access
◦ Stack sweaters and pants vertically on shelves

• Fold your sweaters! I cannot stress this one enough. We've all experienced the dreaded shoulder nipples you get from hanging your sweaters, and once those babies are there, they are nearly impossible to remove.  Fold your sweaters, people.

• No orphan hangers. Set up an area for empty hangers.   When you take an item of clothing off it's hanger, move the hanger to the designated space.  If you leave bare hangers amongst all of your clothes, not only does it look sloppy but it also makes it that much harder to find a hanger when you need one.

• Invest in matching hangers.  Much like orphan hangers, mismatched hangers can look sloppy and take away from the real focus - the clothes.  Figure out how many hangers you need, and then order a matching set in bulk.  These hangers are my absolute favorite for several reasons. #1, they are non-slip, so your clothes stay in place.  #2 they are super slim, so you can fit more clothes on each rod.

• Use vertical space  In my opinion, closets are never big enough - but a lot of times the space above the clothing rods goes unused.  This is a great space to store items that aren't in season.  Or use cute baskets, like these Martha Stewart ones, to corral smaller items like scarves or belts.

Transitioning to Fall on a Budget

by Remington Ready August 28, 2014

Fall is fast approaching and chock-full of my favorite things… college football, haunted houses, and pumpkin spice lattes. While many of us are ready to go back-to-school shopping for the inevitable drop in temperatures, try transitioning your summer pieces into fall with these money-saving tips.

Fall Trend 1: Plaid

How to transition? Window-pane print has been popular all summer long with no plans to slow down heading into fall. The black and white pattern makes the perfect backdrop to showcase your accessories and matches almost everything in your closet. Tory Burch loves this print, but Windsor Store makes a fabulous printed peplum top for only $22.90.

Fall Trend 2: Structured Bags

How to transition? A Celine purse is chic year-round, but you won’t break the bank carrying this almost identical $35 alternative from Windsor Store.

Fall Trend 3: Matte Red Lips

How to transition? Tone down the bright red lip by opting for a more crimson color as the weather cools. Stila makes an amazing no-smudge liquid lip-stick, but for only $2.99 Elf makes an awesome substitute.

Fall Trend 4: Pendant Necklaces

How to transition? Kendra Scott’s token bright necklaces have been seen all over the blogosphere this season, but Purple Peridot put a spin on her iconic shape in jewel tones for fall… and for only $15.99.

Fall Trend 4: Wide-Brimmed Hats

How to transition? Floppy hats can be found all over the beach during the summer months, but swap the straw for felt heading into fall. Free People makes the perfect wide-brimmed hat, but for only $24, ASOS’s version is on-trend as well.

Fringe For The Fall

by Erica Zar August 11, 2014

Hello! I’m Erica Zar, the blogger behind Casually Styled, a personal style blog. I am so honored to be a guest blogger today for Remington Ready!

Today I want to share one of the top trends for fall 2014, which actually is a continuation from what we saw this past spring.  Yes, I’m talking about fringe! Fringe has made its way back into fashion in a big and exciting way. We have seen fringe over the years make its mark on western wear and casual wear, everything from boots, jackets and purses, but now it is taking on a new life of its own with pieces that truly make it a fashion statement.

There are so many ways to add fringe to your style without overstating it.  The trick to fringing is to focus on one piece to keep it simple and classy, and treating it as an accessory to what you are wearing.

Here are some great examples to incorporate fringe for that effortless and chic statement:

1.  Fringe Boots – a great way to add an extra splash of pizzazz to a pair of skinny jeans or even a dress! (Boots seen here, currently available by DV by Dolce Vita at Nordstrom)

2. Fringe Purses – let your purse do the talking as the statement piece to compliment your outfit. (Purse seen here, currently available at Target online and in stores).

3. Fringe Necklaces – a hot trend this fall, add a fringe necklace to a plain tank or tee for a subtle but bold statement!  (Necklace seen here, currently available at Forever21 online or in stores).

4. Fringe Jackets – another huge comeback, not just for the Wild West anymore! A great fall piece to add to your week-end wardrobe!

5. Kimono – a personal favorite of mine, the kimono has become a popular cover-up over the past few months – choose one with fringed sleeves and you’ll be ahead of the fashion curve! (Kimono seen here, currently available at Forever21)

6. Formal Wear – Make an entrance with an eye-catching fringe cocktail dress or evening gown that will make you feel sexy and glam!

7. Bathing Suits – Planning a Caribbean vacation or cruise? Swimwear is taking the plunge with fringe this season as well!

8. Vintage Fringe – A trip to your favorite vintage store or maybe mom’s closet will score you a classic fringe piece that will definitely make a statement!
Let’s face it, almost every one of us has owned a fringed piece at one point in our lives and it was always fun to wear!  Bring back some of that fun with this season’s fringe trend!

Dressing Up Shorts For Summer

by Amy Welch August 1, 2014

I typically shy away from shorts, simply because I hate my legs. However, in the North Carolina humidity, sometimes they are a necessary closet staple! I picked this pair up from Loft last summer on sale and I am so glad I did because they are so versatile! I love silk shorts because not only are they super comfortable, but I love the movement of them.

These shorts traveled on a dinner date with me, to a summer outdoor concert and to pick flowers with girlfriends. I believe as we get older we need to pick items in our closet that not only make us feel confident, but items that can accompany us on our many adventures in life. These shorts have me reevaluating my hate/love with showing my legs. I know they are in my future much more this summer!

What one item in your closet do you find so be most versatile?

Men’s Guide To Summer Style

by RemReadyMan July 14, 2014

A trip to the beach. A day on the boat. Two things that make you excited to relax and happy to do nothing at all but watch the day pass you by. We hope your time is filled with opportunities to enjoy the peaceful warmth of the summer sun. Check out these essentials for looking stylish and staying comfortable all summer long.

Sunglasses: Oakley & Ray-Ban  Fedora: Zara  Hat: Express  Watch: Armitron

Accessories:

Protection from the sun is important anytime you go outside. Make sure to have a pair of sunglasses to shield your eyes and a hat to guard the rest of your face. Choose the styles that fit you best!
Another good accessory to have is a waterproof watch. You’ll want to keep your cell phone safely put away while at the beach or lake, so wear a trusty watch to keep track of the time and make it back for your evening plans.

Shoes:  Birkentstocks, HaviannaPatagonia

Shoes:

Foot protection is key. Wear the right shoes for each occasion, with stylish flip flops for casual settings or sturdier water shoes when you’re active at the beach.

Striped Tank: Forever 21 Hawaiian Shirt: Oldnavy  Blue T-Shirt: Oldnavy Red T-Shirt: Target

Tops:

Staying cool in the summer heat is your main objective. Stick with shirts made of breathable cotton that will wick away sweat and allow an occasional breeze to blow through and cool you down. Tank tops are popular when the weather warms up and there are all sorts of fun patterns and designs to show off your unique style.

Floral Print: Scoop  Solid Grey: Nike (via Kohl's)  Solid Red: Forever 21 Soild Turqoise: Style Bop

Swim Trunks:

All swim wear is not created equal. For a casual day on the boat, go with a floral pattern or brightly colored trunk to keep pace with a nicer shirt and hat. If you’re having a more active day in the water, shoot for athletic fit trunks that will stay comfortable even when wet.

Beach and Pool Essentials

by Kate Austin June 30, 2014

My name is Kate Austin and I’m so honored to be blogging for Remington Ready today! I’m the blogger behind Just Kate and today I’m sharing my must-haves for the beach or pool.

1. A beach tote or knapsack is essential for carrying everything to and from your sunny destination.  Other key essentials include a pair of flip-flops and a colorful beach towel.

2. While lying out, I love a good read or a fun magazine to browse through. I can get impatient, so entertaining myself is a must. I often put my headphones in and listen to some music or bring a friend to pass time while I’m soaking up those rays!

3. Pamper and protect.

a. A pair of sunglasses and sunscreen is crucial for a day in the sun. I love this sunscreen from Ulta, because it leaves a pleasant smell on your skin after application.

b. EOS lip balm is widely popular; however look for their Lemon Drop flavor if you want SPF in your balm.

c. Lastly, the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil is a UV and heat protectant. Perfect for spraying into dry or wet hair for keeping your locks looking healthy. And of course, keeping a hairbrush handy is always a good idea.

4. A good suit to make you feel cute and confident is key for making your day in the sun enjoyable. Choose a style that best fits you and own it.

How To Pick The Perfect Summer Dress

by Remington Ready June 2, 2014

Hello! My name is Jacy Tilton and I'm the blogger behind Love, Lenore. I'm so excited to be guest blogging for Remington Ready today and to be sharing some of my favorite summer dress trends with you! I'm all about breezy dresses in the summertime because a great dress is easy to dress up or down and can be comfortable even when the temperatures rise. While I'm a huge fan of a little black dress, summer is the perfect time to experiment with bright colors and different silhouettes!

Look 1: Shift Dress
Shift dresses are so fun to style and look chic dressed up with heels and a statement necklace like I've worn mine here, or dressed down with sandals or flats! Wear one in a vibrant color (bright pastels are "in" this season) and you will instantly make a statement. Because my dress was already colorful I chose to pair it with simple but statement-making accessories to really pop against the mint. This classic silhouette won't be going out of style anytime soon and can be worn to anything from casual shopping to a fun summer party!

Look 2: Maxi Dress
I love the effortless bohemian look of maxi dresses and that they're a style anyone can wear! In my opinion, maxi dresses are the easiest silhouette to style casually, and as you can see here, I love pairing mine with flat sandals and a simple long necklace for an understated and wearable look.

Look 3: Skater Dress
Skater dresses are my absolute favorite silhouette! They're fun and flirty, but super flattering at the same time, which makes them perfect for date night. What I love about skater dresses is that they define the waistline, but float away from the hips. Because of their simple, flattering silhouette, skater dresses are the perfect opportunity to play around with color and prints too. I chose to style mine as a date night look with fun, colorful accessories in my heels and clutch!

Fortunately there are so many different dress silhouettes that are in style this season, making it easier than ever to find styles you love and that are flattering on you! Don't forget that dresses can be just as comfortable as shorts and a t-shirt, and remember to play around with color and prints too. Thank you so much for reading, and feel free to swing by my blog Love, Lenore for more outfits and style trends!
